How does it work?

Acupuncture stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms by influencing the nervous system, improving circulation, and regulating the release of neurotransmitters and hormones. Research shows that acupuncture can:

  • Reduce pain by triggering the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers.

  • Decrease inflammation and promote tissue healing.

  • Enhance circulation, improving oxygen and nutrient delivery to injured areas.

  • Regulate the nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

How many treatments will I need to see results?

The number of treatments depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and how your body responds. Acute issues may improve in just a few sessions, while chronic or complex conditions may require a longer course of care. Treatments build on each other and it often takes the body time to adjust.

Acute conditions are sudden in onset and often short in duration. They may be the result of an injury, illness, or a specific event and can generally be treated in just a few sessions.

Chronic conditions are long-term or recurring issues that have developed over weeks, months, or even years. These often involve deeper imbalances and may require more consistent, ongoing treatment to manage or resolve. It is generally recommended to start with weekly treatments and then move to bi-weekly or monthly to continue to support the body’s healing.

While chronic conditions often take longer to treat, acupuncture is highly effective at managing symptoms, reducing flare-ups, and supporting long-term healing.

Does it hurt?

Most people find acupuncture to be very gentle and relaxing. The needles are extremely thin and we will work together to make sure that you are comfortable. You may feel a slight pinch with insertion or a mild sensation like warmth, heaviness, or tingling, which usually fades quickly. Many patients even fall asleep during treatment.
